ONIST is the creative practice of Steve Holder, a multidisciplinary artist and tattooist based in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

With over 20 years of experience across graffiti, graphic design, illustration and visual arts, Steve's work is rooted in a lifelong interest in image-making, visual communication and the culture surrounding it.

Originally developing his style through graffiti and large-scale lettering, his creative approach has evolved to incorporate illustrative drawing, character design and a fascination with darker imagery, historical symbolism and traditional visual motifs.

This background continues to influence his tattooing, bringing together bold compositions, considered linework and distinctive illustrative forms. Each design is approached as an individual piece of artwork, with an emphasis on visual impact, detail and developing imagery that feels personal and enduring.

Now focused on developing his tattoo practice, Steve works under the guidance of the team at Soul & Shade Tattoo Studio. Through custom designs, original flash and continued artistic development, he aims to establish a distinctive visual language that bridges the worlds of tattooing, graffiti and contemporary illustration.
